MARRAKECH : 740 MAD/person Marrakech is one of the four Imperial cities of Morocco. For a lot people Marrakech has an historical legacy but for many other Marrakech is fun, entertainment and a real insight to typically Moroccan souks. For our guests interested in this one day trip, we will start in the early morning crossing the Argan trees regions - a tree that the goats love to graze on. As the sun is rising, we will be admiring the beauty and majesty of the High Atlas Mountains as well as the humble Berber villages all along. After a coffee stop the scenery changes into plains till Marrakech. Getting there, we will take you to visit one of Marrakech best gardens called Menara - a big snow water reservoir used to irrigate a large olive grove. Immediately we will already be crossing the old ramparts of Marrakech and stop by the Koutoubia Mosque and Minaret - the latter being the land mark of the city. Taking few shots of the Minaret we explore the Mellah - jewish quarter - where we will have the chance of visiting the Bahia Palace - a very good example of the Hispano-Moorish architecture: cedar wood ceilings carved and painted, a genius work on chiselled plaster and mosaics. Then we find ourselves in a mixture of different smells and colourful stalls while we are visiting the famous souks, which are an endless labyrinth we will go to a huge sectioned area where craftsmen are relying on their hands to make all the different goods. We go back in time. From this hectic place we will go to the palm grove of Marrakech where we will take our lunch in one of Marrakech's biggest restaurants. The meal will be typically Moroccan and the setting is very hard to describe. The afternoon is scheduled for visiting the Saadien Tombs, a 16th century necropolis used as a burial place of the Saadian dynasty. History owes a lot to this dynasty. A visit of a carpet place is included. The rest of the afternoon will be spent on Jamaa El Fna square, the first and major tourist attraction of the city, : dancers, musicians, fortune tellers, water sellers, dentists, boxers, snake charmers and many others consider the square as their daily stage of performance. |
